Janet Sullivan to support Katie Henke

A candidate for a Tulsa House of Representatives seat dropped out Friday and endorsed a candidate who is challenging the candidacy of one of the five remaining Republican contenders for the post.

Janet Sullivan, the ex-wife of former Rep. Dan Sullivan whose resignation last month caused the House District 71 vacancy, withdrew as a candidate for the seat.

Sullivan, 49, who had asked all nine contenders seeking the post to consider meeting to narrow the packed field to one Democrat and one Republican, filed papers to withdraw her bid. Her withdrawal leaves six Republicans and two Democrats in the race.

After withdrawing, Sullivan backed Katie Henke, 31, a teacher at Riverfield Country Day School in Tulsa.

“We’re very excited to have Janet supporting our campaign,” said Henke’s husband, Frazier.
